When Good Deeds Don’t Work Out

There are some times when you should concentrate on something such as ‘rules and regulations’ instead of trying to be the good guy. The story that I’m about to share is of a similar man who overlooked the rules and policies of his bank and lost his job trying to be a good guy.

Jim Nicholson, a bank teller at a Key Bank branch in Seattle has lost his job because he ran down the block the catch a bank robber until the police arrived. According to the bank’s policies, you must comply to the demands of the robbery and try to avoid dangerous confrontations.

Jim Nicholson, who is 30 years old was fired on Thursday. He says that he totally understood the bank’s policy regarding complying with the demands of the robbery but somehow his instincts over-ruled his mind.

He ran down several blocks to catch the bank robber before he knocked him down with the help of a pedestrian. Eventually, the bank robber turned out to be unarmed.

The officials at Key banks have refused to pass any comments on this, leaving the person who did a good deed unemployed.

This certainly is a little odd. There could have been other options other than firing the bank teller. After all, he was trying to do a good deed and not doing anything for himself but showing loyalty to the bank.

It seems that sometimes, good deeds just don’t work out the way you plan them.
